Upcoming CE Trainings
Friday, November 20, 2026
On Zoom: Log on at 8:50 a.m. CT
Training hours: 9 a.m.–Noon CT
This introductory training provides mental health professionals with a clinical overview of psychedelic-assisted therapy, with an emphasis on ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. Participants will examine the history and major categories of psychedelic medicines, current theories about how these treatments support therapeutic change, and the roles of preparation, medicine sessions, and integration. The presentation will also address client screening, contraindications, and the ethical considerations of psychedelic-assisted therapy.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate ketamine, MDMA, and classic psychedelics according to their drug class, therapeutic applications, and current clinical context.
- Describe proposed mechanisms through which psychedelic-assisted therapies may support psychological change, including neuroplasticity, changes in rigid patterns of thinking, and increased access to emotional processing.
- Explain the roles of preparation, the medicine session, and integration within a psychedelic-assisted therapy model.
- Identify key considerations in determining client candidacy, including medical and psychiatric contraindications and factors that may increase clinical risk.
- Recognize ethical concerns related to altered states, including client vulnerability, suggestibility, informed consent, therapeutic touch, professional boundaries, and continuity of care.
