Finance (BS)

Why study Finance?

Finance professionals advance ideas to make money work. They are trained to work with financial instruments, stocks, bonds, and markets. Studying finance requires careful attention to detail, since finance blends concepts from accounting, economics, and statistics. The Finance major is ideal for those who enjoy the challenge of analytical work and the responsibility of managing financial resources.

Why study Finance at AU?

The Aurora University Finance program is known throughout the Chicagoland area and recognized for its rigor. AU Finance graduates also have access to a vast network of alumni in key leadership roles.

As an AU Finance student, you will be prepared to become a strategic leader and savvy business professional. You will learn about capital investment decisions, analyze and value securities, and gain a greater understanding of the relationship between risk and expected return. You’ll also gain experience with the principles of accounting, economics, management, marketing, and information science. Advanced-degree faculty will teach you about corporate finance, investments, portfolio management, financial markets, and personal financial management.

You will also complete an internship where you will gain valuable work experience and develop your analytical and problem-solving skills. Expand your career opportunities by double majoring in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Political Science and Public Policy. Even with a second major, you will still be able to graduate in four years. The AU Finance major also meets the requirements to continue into AU’s MBA Plus One Program, which will allow you to graduate with both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years.
