School Health Education (Minor)

Why minor in School Health Education?

The School Health Education minor is designed to complement any Education major. With this minor, you'll be endorsed to teach Health at the secondary levels (middle school and high school) in the State of Illinois. An endorsement allows a licensed educator to teach health education full time in the middle school and part time in the high school.

Why minor in School Health Education at AU?

Teaching children to lead healthy lifestyles is crucial to their well-being. We know that today’s students need positive role models and committed educators to help them reach such goals. That’s why at AU, we will help you inspire your students to embrace health as a core component of their lives through the School Health Education minor.

This minor can be added to any other AU education program to give you an additional endorsement. If you’re majoring in Physical Education K–12 Licensure and would like to qualify for the Secondary School Health Endorsement, you must also pass the Illinois State Board of Education Health Content Area Exam.
