Welcome U is Aurora University’s orientation series designed to assist students in the transition to college. The sessions represent a wide range of topics to support student success at Aurora University.

FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN: Welcome U is a component of IDS1150: The First Year Experience (FYE) and includes both virtual (Zoom) and in-person (on-campus) sessions. All incoming freshmen are required to attend all sessions as part of FYE.

FOR INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS: Welcome U is a series of optional virtual presentations. Transfer students are encouraged to attend any virtual sessions of interest to them as they prepare to enter Aurora University.

Virtual Sessions

August 8–11  |  30-minute sessions

Incoming freshmen are required to attend one of these sessions on the date and time of their choice for a total of four 30-minute sessions.

August 15–18  |  60-minute sessions

Incoming freshmen are required to attend one of these sessions on the date and time of their choice for a total of four 60-minute sessions.

In-person Sessions

Incoming freshmen are required to attend ONE on-campus Welcome U event prior to the start of the fall semester. Commuting students will have the option to attend on Tuesday, August 23, or Thursday, August 25. Residential students will attend on Saturday, August 27, following move-in on Friday, August 26. The schedule for each on-campus event will be:

8–9 a.m. – Check-in
9 a.m.–3 p.m. – Required Activities
3–5 p.m. – Optional Activities

FRESHMEN COMMUTER STUDENTS, please register for an on-campus Welcome U event by Monday, August 15. The August 23 event is full. To register for the August 25 event, click here.

FRESHMEN RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS will automatically be registered for the on-campus Welcome U event on Saturday, August 27.

ALL TRANSFER STUDENTS are invited to attend Discover AU on Friday, August 19. Check-in for this event will begin at 8:00 a.m.; the program will run from 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Please register by Monday, August 15, for this event here.
