Student Support
At AU, supporting you means caring about more than your academic success. If health concerns, financial difficulties, housing or food insecurity, or other challenges are affecting your college experience, we’re here to help.
The Coordinator of Student Support and Care is available to help guide you through the resources below and connect you with support.
Housing and Opportunities that are Useful for Students’ Excellence (HOUSE)
The Coordinator of Student Support and Care serves as AU’s HOUSE Liaison, an intermediary between a student experiencing homelessness or a student in care and campus services, including financial aid, student support, and residence life. This includes assisting with applying for and receiving federal and state financial aid, as well as providing information about the services and resources available on campus, locally, statewide, and at the federal level. You can request assistance by completing the Housing Insecurity and Basic Needs Form.

Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA)
MLOA provides a student with time away from AU for treatment of a physical or mental health condition that impairs their ability to function successfully or safely as a member of the university community. It is intended for the benefit of students who experience unanticipated medical situations during an academic semester.
The Coordinator of Student Support and Care serves as AU’s MLOA Coordinator and can meet with you to discuss the MLOA policy and procedures, ensuring you have all the necessary details to make an informed choice before pursuing a medical leave. If you wish to explore the MLOA process, email mloa@aurora.edu.
Spartan Support
If you are struggling with concerns related to mental health, housing or food insecurity, financial pressures, or feeling unsafe on campus or at home, you can fill out a Spartan Support request and the Coordinator of Student Support and Care will respond to your inquiry within 24–48 hours. Please note, your submission may be shared with a relevant campus office based on your request (e.g., if you request assistance for financial pressures, you may be connected to the Office of Financial Aid if applicable).
Spartan Support QR codes are posted around campus in bathrooms, common areas, residence halls, and classrooms. At AU, you always have a way to reach out for help, and your requests will be handled with compassion and confidentiality.
