Career and Internship Fair

Student shaking hands with an employer at the Career Fair

Over 480 AU students and 90 employers attended the AU Career and Internship Fair on March 14, 2024. The next AU Career and Internship Fair will be held this fall. Watch this page for additional details.

If you are an employer interested in future on-campus recruiting opportunities, please contact employers@aurora.edu or visit our employers page for more information.

  • When preparing to attend a career fair, research companies who will be in attendance and designate at least 3-5 companies in which you have the strongest interest.
  • Update your resume and have it reviewed by Career Services.
  • Practice your 60-90 second introduction (who you are, how your interests/career goals align with company).
  • Review your Handshake and LinkedIn profiles and be sure they are up-to-date and complete. Recruiters will likely view your profile after meeting you.
  • Know what you are going to wear, and look professional (no sweatpants, no jeans, no t-shirts, no tennis shoes). Visit the Spartan Attic at the Hill Center for Student Success for free professional clothing.
  • Prepare to bring the following to the fair:
    • Copies of your resume.
    • A folder or notebook for taking brief notes.
  • Make your first stop with a company that is not among your top 5 so you can practice.
  • Be prepared to explain why you are interested in a specific company.
  • Be passionate about what you have done and confident about who you are.
  • Be ready to answer a question related to a job or activity listed on your resume. For example, "How has being a member of the Sales Club helped you develop a specific skill?" or "How has working at XYZ company prepared you for your career goals?"
  • Don’t overstay your visit.
  • Leave a copy of your resume with the recruiter.
  • Take a few moments and write down notes about the conversation.
  • Within 24 hours, connect with the recruiter on LinkedIn and send a message thanking them for taking the time to talk with you.
